I became a mother in 2023, and like most new moms, I fell down the rabbit hole. Suddenly I was reading everything — ingredients, labels, materials — trying to understand what was actually safe for my baby and for me. What I found about synthetic fabrics stopped me cold. The microplastics. The azo dyes. The chemical finishes pressed into fabric that spends all day against your skin and your baby's skin. Nobody was talking about it loudly enough, and I couldn't unlearn what I'd read.

At the same time, I just wanted a pretty dress. Something comfortable and feminine that would help me feel like myself again after pregnancy and early motherhood. I couldn't find what I was looking for, so I designed it.

That is Clarity.

Most 100% cotton clothing is dyed with azo dyes and solvents, then finished with anti-wrinkle and anti-stain chemicals like BPA and formaldehyde that don't wash out before they reach you. More research comes out every day about synthetic fabrics, endocrine disruptors, and fertility. That's why I started Clarity, and it's still the heart of everything I do.

Every Clarity piece is colored with natural dye, not pigment. Pigment printing needs a synthetic binder to hold it to the fabric, and I won't put that against your skin. No azo dyes. No chlorinated bleaches. No formaldehyde or BPA finishes. No preservatives. No synthetic blends. Clarity is made differently than 99% of brands, on purpose. We are toxin free by design.

Designed on our homestead in rural Ohio. Every Clarity dress and blouse is designed on our 10 acre farm, for women who want clothes that are healthy, beautiful, functional, and forgiving.

Hand-block printed in Jaipur. Our prints are stamped by hand with carved wooden blocks dipped in natural dye, a 500 year old craft. Each piece is printed and sewn by artisan families in Jaipur, India, who have practiced this tradition for generations. Slight variations in color and pattern are not flaws, they are fingerprints.
