Sylvia — named for Sylvia Plath, one of the most luminous poets of the 20th century. As she wrote: "I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery — air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, this is what it is to be happy."

Cornflower blue cotton hand-block printed all over with large white and blue medallion boteh motifs — intricate, layered, and extraordinary up close. Each motif sits inside a delicate oval frame, a flower within a flower, pressed into the fabric one stamp at a time. The V-neck smocked waist bodice holds and stretches with gentle support before the skirt opens into generous tiers that fall full to the ankle. Two deep pockets.

Fabric: Every Sylvia is hand-block printed in Jaipur using a craft 500 years older than fast fashion — wooden blocks carved by hand, dipped in natural dye, and pressed into the fabric one stamp at a time. Designed on our homestead in rural Ohio, made in Jaipur by families who have practiced this tradition for generations. Because each dress is made entirely by hand, no two are identical — slight variations in color and pattern are not flaws, they are fingerprints. The mark of something real. No chlorinated bleaches, azo dyes, chemical washes, sprays, or preservatives are used to make or applied to our Clarity dresses. We are toxin free by design.
