The Mary takes her name from Mary Oliver, the Ohio-born poet who spent her whole life paying attention to the natural world. Devoted to the woods and marshes and their small daily miracles, she wrote poetry so clear and so tender that she became one of the best-loved poets in America. Walking out every morning to notice the grasshopper, the wild geese, the light coming down through the trees, and teaching a whole country that noticing is its own kind of prayer, and its own quiet kind of courage.

Deep golden ochre threaded with dusty blue — the color of turning leaves and a late-September field, of amber light and far-off hills, finished with a blue border at the hem. The square neckline sits between two wide fixed straps, the bodice is smocked close for a gentle, holding stretch, and the skirt drops in full tiers all the way to the ankle, with two deep pockets in the seams. A dress made for fall — for cider and woodsmoke and long walks where the leaves are turning.

Fabric: Every Mary is hand-block printed in Jaipur using a craft 500 years older than fast fashion — wooden blocks carved by hand, dipped in natural dye, and pressed into the fabric one stamp at a time. Designed on our homestead in rural Ohio, made in Jaipur by families who have practiced this tradition for generations. Because each dress is made entirely by hand, no two are identical — slight variations in color and pattern are not flaws, they are fingerprints. The mark of something real. No chlorinated bleaches, azo dyes, chemical washes, sprays, or preservatives are used to make or applied to our Clarity dresses. We are toxin free by design.

Care: Wash inside out with other 100% cotton fabrics on a delicate cold cycle. Hang dry. Never bleach.
