Clara — named for Clara Barton, a Massachusetts schoolteacher who walked onto the battlefields of the Civil War alone, carrying supplies on her back when no one else would go. She knelt beside the wounded in the mud and the dark and stayed until every man had been seen to. Soldiers called her the Angel of the Battlefield — not because she was delicate, but because she was there. After the war she founded the American Red Cross, building from nothing an organization that has stood for over a century. She did all of this before women were permitted to vote, hold office, or be taken seriously in public life. She did it anyway. As she wrote: "I have an almost complete disregard of precedent, and a faith in the possibility of something better. It irritates me to be told how things have always been done. I defy the tyranny of precedent."

Fabric: Every Clara is handmade in Jaipur by families who have practiced the art of natural dyeing for generations — color drawn from vegetable dyes, worked deep into 100% organic cotton by hand. Designed on our homestead in rural Ohio, made with the same care and intention as every Clarity dress. Because each dress is dyed by hand, slight variations in depth and tone are not flaws, they are fingerprints. The mark of something real. No chlorinated bleaches, azo dyes, chemical washes, sprays, or preservatives are used to make or applied to our Clarity dresses. We are chemical free by design.

Care: Wash inside out with other 100% cotton fabrics on a delicate cold cycle. Hang dry. Never bleach.
