My favorite words from Joan Lindsay are, "History suggests that the human spirit wanders farthest in the silent hours between midnight and dawn." So I have named this dress after her. A painter before she was a writer, she gave the world Picnic at Hanging Rock — the dreamlike story of schoolgirls who wander into the Australian bush one Valentine's Day and simply vanish, a book so alive with heat and stone and hanging light that the landscape itself becomes a character. She wrote only that one great novel, but it was enough: a strange and beautiful meditation on time and nature that has haunted readers for generations.
Raspberry and olive on a soft cream ground, block-printed in blooming medallions — the colors of a summer garden gone gloriously wild. The neckline gathers wide on an adjustable drawstring that ties at the center, ready to sit at the shoulder or slip just off it, and the short puff sleeves round out soft and sweet. The skirt falls in gentle tiers all the way to the ankle, with two deep pockets tucked into the seams. The bodice is left unlined to stay light and cool against the skin, while a cotton voile lining runs the length of the skirt for comfort and modesty.

Fabric: Every Lindsey is hand-block printed in Jaipur using a craft 500 years older than fast fashion — wooden blocks carved by hand, dipped in natural dye, and pressed into the fabric one stamp at a time. Designed on our homestead in rural Ohio, made in Jaipur by families who have practiced this tradition for generations. Because each dress is made entirely by hand, no two are identical — slight variations in color and pattern are not flaws, they are fingerprints. The mark of something real. No chlorinated bleaches, azo dyes, chemical washes, sprays, or preservatives are used to make or applied to our Clarity dresses. We are toxin free by design.
Care: Wash inside out with other 100% cotton fabrics on a delicate cold cycle. Hang dry. Never bleach.
