My favorite quote from Louisa May Alcott is, "I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship." So I have named this dress after her. Her very first book was Flower Fables — a collection of woodland tales she wrote at twenty-two for Ralph Waldo Emerson's young daughter, full of blossoms and fairies and the New England woods she grew up roaming. She turned hardship into courage again and again, supporting her whole family with her pen, nursing soldiers through the Civil War, and lending her voice to abolition and a woman's right to vote. She was the first woman to register to vote in Concord, Massachusetts, and she wrote Little Women, the story of four sisters that has never once gone out of print.
Dusty rose threaded with soft pink blooms and grey-green vines — the color of a tea rose at dawn, of a cottage garden left a little wild. The neckline gathers on an adjustable drawstring that ties at the center front, ready to sit at the shoulder or slip just off it. The short puff sleeves round out soft and sweet. The skirt falls in gathered babydoll tiers and lands short, made for porch mornings and long summer evenings and everything easy in between.

Fabric: Every Louisa is hand-block printed in Jaipur using a craft 500 years older than fast fashion — wooden blocks carved by hand, dipped in natural dye, and pressed into the fabric one stamp at a time. Designed on our homestead in rural Ohio, made in Jaipur by families who have practiced this tradition for generations. Because each dress is made entirely by hand, no two are identical — slight variations in color and pattern are not flaws, they are fingerprints. The mark of something real. No chlorinated bleaches, azo dyes, chemical washes, sprays, or preservatives are used to make or applied to our Clarity dresses. We are toxin free by design.
Care: Wash inside out with other 100% cotton fabrics on a delicate cold cycle. Hang dry. Never bleach.
