Margaret — named for Margaret Atwood, who once said that gardening is "an attempt to impose order on the wilderness while celebrating it at the same time."

Red-orange tomatoes sprawl across soft pink cotton fabric on unruly green vines — abundant, joyful, and entirely alive. Roma tomatoes are my favorite plant in the garden, and when I saw this fabric I knew it was meant to be a Clarity dress. The straight smocked bodice holds and stretches with gentle ease. Ribbon ties secure over the shoulders or can be worn halter style. You could also tuck the straps into the bodice and wear it strapless if you felt like it. The knee-length skirt falls open and free. Two deep pockets, big enough for a handful of tomatoes fresh off the vine, as long as you don't squish them.

Fabric: Every Margaret is hand-block printed in Jaipur using a craft 500 years older than fast fashion — wooden blocks carved by hand, dipped in natural dye, and pressed into the fabric one stamp at a time. Designed on our homestead in rural Ohio, made in Jaipur by families who have practiced this tradition for generations. Because each dress is made entirely by hand, no two are identical — slight variations in color and pattern are not flaws, they are fingerprints. The mark of something real. No chlorinated bleaches, azo dyes, chemical washes, sprays, or preservatives are used to make or applied to our Clarity dresses. We are toxin free by design.

Care: Wash inside out with other 100% cotton fabrics on a delicate cold cycle. Hang dry. Never bleach.
